UPCOMING

2004-05 marks the premiere season of the Music of Invention Concert Series
at the Black Box of Asbury Park. For this eight-concert series (once a month Oct.-May, 8 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month.) I have selected performers/composers of diverse backgrounds
who, whatever their stylistic interests or background might be, tend to approach music from an elemental level, rather than following the dictates of the established style. Performers so far have included:
  • OCTOBER: Jim Pugliese and EasSide Percussion
  • NOVEMBER: Charles Cohen, Buchla synthesizer with video artist Naval Cassidy
  • DECEMBER: Patti Monson, flute
  • JANUARY: mechanique(s), electroacoustic improv duo (Dafna Naphtali, vocals, Hans Tammen, guitar)

    Upcoming:

  • FEBRUARY 17: Stanley Alexandrowicz, classical guitarist
Stanley performs solo classical guitar work mostly of the last 20 years. He has discovered and commissioned many composers and performed hundreds of premieres. His first CD, American Pluck, is due to be released on Albany Records later this year. This program will include Division by Four Moons, a work I wrote for him, and works by Kendall Kennison and Eric Sessler and others. For the complete press release, visit www.asburymusic.com. • MARCH 17: Douce, avant-garde groove duo (Gisburg and Phil Painson)
  • APRIL 21: The Harry Partch Ensemble, microtonal orchestra led by Dean Drummond.
  • MAY 19: a joint concert featuring my friend David Macdonald, composer (and director of the Locrian Ensemble) and myself.

All performances are 8 p.m. the third Thursday of the month at the
    Black Box of Asbury Park.
Suggested donation is $10/$8 for students and seniors.
